Nestled in the heart
of the Vermont Green Mountains, high on a hill overlooking the valley, is
this seven generation farm. It was built in 1808 and used as a
tavern until 1837 when it became a dairy farm. It produced maple
syrup and cheese as well until 1927 the cheese production ceased.
Still producing maple syrup and now raising beef cattle and selling
hay, Maple Crest Farm also is a bed and breakfast inn and has been
for 29 years. The huge home has 27 rooms and is furnished with some
of the original antiques. Donna's country breakfast and Vermont
hospitality makes everyone feel at home. Donna also has four quilt
workshops a year and does beautiful folk art painting. They are
central to hiking, fishing, skiing and historical interests.
